Hypnosis bypasses your critical factor or also said that hypnosis bypasses your critical thinking. An easier description of it would be that hypnosis temporarily takes away your yes/no factor. This is the area of your conscious decision making where one decides whether one should do something or not. Hypnosis takes away your fear, thus the success of good stage shows being the subjects on stage perform with great confidence and create humorous situations where they would normally never take such chances. When the subjects on stage are given a command, they just DO the command without thinking of it or the consequences of their performance. The subjects sing, dance and perform in front of 500 to 600 people at times where normally some of the participants would never even get up in front of the audience let alone perform in front of them. This is where the true success of a hypnosis show lies within the fact that the Yes/No factor is broken down and the subjects act freely in front of the audience. The subjects become these true performers that are completely focused on the hypnotist and his/her commands. A great show is thus the result.
The power of the mind is truly unyielding. What makes one have the ability to create a state of being perfectly calm while on a rollercoaster while another person can be in a state of an enormous amount of shock? What are the questions and suggestions that we ask ourselves prior to and during these events that continue to create the events? Can someone achieve a sense of calmness in an instant? Can a stage hypnotist take a total stranger and have them in a sleep like state in 3 minutes? The answer is YES!! The use of hypnosis is all around us and much can be learned from looking deeper into hypnosis and the practice of it.
What is hypnosis? There are as many definitions of hypnosis as there are hypnotists practicing. More than anything, hypnosis is a focused and altered state. Everyone has been completely focused on a book or movie and have no real consciousness of the activities going on around them at the time. This state is truly just a hypnotic state and we are often in this state throughout the day. During this state of focused attention we are not aware of the fan making noise above our head or of the birds flying by outside. We are simply focused on the interesting book or movie that we are taking in. We are in a focused hypnotic state. This blog will help to explore hypnosis and some of the travel that I, Gabriel Holmes, discovers while traveling mostly North America speaking doing both hypnosis shows and presentations. Check out hypnotistgabriel.com for some of the shows also in the future.
