Have you ever driven past your house when your intention was to go to your house? Driving is one of the most hypnotic things that we can do. We can go on a long road trip and suddenly hours go by without remembering the route that we took. We can pass numerous towns, lakes and pastures while not remembering a good deal of the route. Driving creates the sleeplike hypnotic state where you have the

focused state of the road or the painted white lines twenty or thirty feet in front of you. We often react subconsciously to these situations on the road without consciously thinking about the tasks of driving at hand. When we first learn to drive as a teenager, we are creating a much more conscious state with both hands on the wheel and attempting to notice everything around us. After years of driving, we create a more nap like state while on the road or shall we we say being in a more subconscious state. Some incredibly hypnotic situations can arise by anyone who has driven through snow, especially on a dark evening. The snowflakes falling with the white lines going by create a very repetitious and hypnotic state for the driver. It is a very similar effect to the use of a flashing light that hypnotists will often use in order to help hypnotize someone during the induction in the beginning of the show in order to get them into a hypnotic state.
