In order for the hypnotist’s suggestions to be effective, they must be stated in the positive. What does one focus on if you are given the command, “Don’t run!” You focus on running! Your mind thus perceives running if you say, “Don’t run.” It would be better to simply state, “Walk Slowly.” Direct commands are always more effective in hypnosis. Here are some examples of positive commands: ~Relax deeply, ~Allow your body to relax, ~ Breathe deeply, ~ Focus on my voice and only the sound of my voice.
